This year had us scrambling at literally the last minute, when fires broke out threatening the town only days from our planned departure for Santa Barbara and the Wheel's and Waves car show. The car show was understandably canceled, so alternate plans had to be pulled together in just a few days. Even with these last minute changes the trip was another great outing for BACC.
Here's how we spent the weekend:
Friday- Drove down to Santa Barbara on Friday as planned (with our traditional impromptu pool side gathering)
Saturday- Drove down the coast early to Simi Valley for the Valiant Mens Ministries Armed Forces Day car show benefiting the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which supports the families of men and women lost in battle and those severely injured in combat. The organizers provided us parking, the mall where the show was held provided "significant others" apple shopping, in fact many asked if we could stay longer. We did stay till 1:00PM for the honor guard ceremony before continuing out to Malibu and then up to Ventura for lunch. Our group showed their support and generosity by "passing the hat" for this organization and contributing about $300 for this very worthy charity. Saturday evening had us back at the hotel for the planned Not Knott's cocktail/wine/beer/tequilla/etc. reception before folks set off for various dinner spots in town.
Sunday-Breakfast was at the old Wells Fargo stage stop Cold Springs Tavern , the afternoon was open to explore the area for shopping, wine tasting , spa treatments or relaxing by the pool (with our friend Jose Cuervo). Sunday evening we again met up at the hotel where transportation was arranged to our traditional dinner at The Palace Grill .
Monday it was back on the road for our drive home.
BACC Santa Barbara Photo Album
Among the new features on BACCEVENTS is a post trip photo album. The plan is to have folks send in their photos from each trip and an album will be created here on the site.
